Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsible for diagnosing defects through inspection, dismantling and reassembling equipment per Technical Manuals, replacing engines/subassemblies, welding damaged parts, and testing for operational efficiency. May supervise others in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly/disassembly. Must be able to obtain facility credentials/authorization (US Citizenship required for credentials). Requires 8+ years of heavy machinery maintenance experience, knowledge of engine theory, and the ability to read maintenance manuals, schematics, and data tables. Will work in accordance with Army regulations, may require travel, and may operate a government vehicle. ASE/Diesel certifications are preferred. Safety, quality, and adherence to company procedures are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Eight (8) or more years’ recent experience and specific knowledge in heavy machinery maintenance
- Experience in engine operations and components
- Ability to obtain site forklift and other licenses/certifications as needed
- Valid and current state driver’s license
- Ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle
- Ability to inspect, repair, and operate a diverse range of vehicles
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply Technical Manual instructions and safety rules
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Possibility of travel
- Possess knowledge of tools and proper use of special tools/equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Possess ASE and/or Diesel Mechanic Certifications (preferred)
- Security clearance (may be required)
