Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at Independence Excavating in Cleveland, OH. The position involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emission issues to keep construction equipment at peak performance. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical/wiring problems, conducting Tier 4 emissions diagnostics and repairs, performing inspections and preventive maintenance, rebuilding equipment, repairing attachments, documenting repairs and preparing work orders, coordinating with project teams for operational efficiency, and welding/fabrication as needed. The role requires travel readiness and adherence to safety policies, with opportunities to work on a fleet of CAT, Komatsu, and John Deere machines, trucks, and cranes.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Strong welding and fabrication skills, including acetylene and electric arc welding.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and obtain a CDL driver's license, with a clean driving record.
