Job Summary
Diagnose malfunctions, rebuild engines and power systems, and ensure heavy machinery and emergency service vehicles operate safely and efficiently. Perform maintenance on wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, and material handling gear by disassembling components, following technical manuals, and repairing brakes, suspension, and steering systems. Accomplish minor repairs, maintain operational vehicle maintenance schedules, and record daily personnel attendance and accident reports. Train employees on job tasks, mentor staff, and resolve concerns while monitoring performance. This full-time day shift role at Tessera, a national non-profit government contractor, supports facility management and vehicle maintenance across 13 states.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma/GED
- 5-8 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or closely related field
- Certifications supporting EVT LVL 2 Fire Apparatus and ARFF Vehicle Technician to include ASE (T-2 thru T-7) and EVT (F-1 thru F-4 and A-1 thru A-2)
- Knowledgeable in the maintenance of military vehicles and equipment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair
- Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time
- A valid state driver's license
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access
- Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance
- A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position
