Job Summary

Maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy mobile and stationary equipment including wheel loaders, dozers, excavators, cranes, and locomotives in a steel mill environment. Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacements for engines, transmissions, hydraulic, electrical, and braking systems per OEM specifications. Conduct inspections of mechanical, hydraulic, and powertrain components while documenting activities and utilizing technical manuals. Collaborate with operations teams to minimize downtime and participate in safety meetings and job safety analyses. Work safely in active mill operations, high-temperature zones, and outdoor conditions, complying with OSHA and site-specific regulations. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as required. Rotate shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience maintaining heavy equipment in an industrial, mining, steel‐mill, or construction environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on experience with Diesel and gasoline engines
  • Hands-on experience with Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Hands-on experience with Electrical and electronic controls
  • Hands-on experience with Drivetrains and braking systems
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast‐paced industrial environment
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and hazard awareness
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation and OEM service procedures
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Tolerance for noise, dust, vibration, high heat, and industrial work conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work around moving equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience working within active steel‐mill operations
  • Familiarity with slag handling, materials handling, or rail‐based industrial equipment
