Job Summary
Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain heavy power equipment including cranes, bulldozers, and paving machines. Operate and inspect machinery to diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools, and replace defective engines and subassemblies. Examine parts for damage using micrometers and gauges, weld broken components, and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Requires a valid state Commercial Driver License (CDL), AWS welding qualification, and ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance. U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Join the Maintenance Division at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2+) years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
- At least two (2+) years of experience as a qualified welder
- Valid state Commercial Driver License (CDL) with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position
- Ability to obtain a valid state CDL within 90 days of hiring
- Maintenance of CDL and an acceptable driving record during the duration of employment
- Welding qualification in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) standards for the equipment and material utilized
- Ability to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level
- U.S. citizenship
