Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsible for repair and integration of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical systems on heavy equipment and vehicle prototypes; duties include documenting repairs, assessing performance changes, assisting government engineers, tear-down/build, diagnostics, preventive and special maintenance; requires ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS, 5-7 years of experience, journeyman status, and eligibility for Government Secret Clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, certificate from a 2-year technical school or completion of an apprenticeship program leading to Journeyman status or equivalent with a minimum of 5-7 years related experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance
- Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS 25% annually
- Capable of standing all day and lifting 45 lbs
- Experience in heavy-duty vehicle systems and repairs including diesel and gasoline engines, automatic transmissions, drive systems, steering, suspension, brakes, electronics and HVAC systems
- Ability to tear down and rebuild vehicles and heavy equipment
- Document repairs or installations and assess performance implications
- Knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, mechanics, fabrication, assembly, physical prototyping, analysis and troubleshooting
