Job Summary

Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment used in metal recycling operations, including forklifts, skid steers, loaders, cranes, and hydraulic machinery. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components while troubleshooting failures to minimize downtime. Read technical diagrams, operate welding tools for repairs, and maintain accurate work orders and parts inventory. Respond to urgent breakdowns with on-site repairs, ensuring all work complies with OSHA standards and safety protocols. Physically capable of lifting 50lbs and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and industrial electrical components
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to solve mechanical issues efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy parts up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field
