Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Field Technician responsible for traveling to customer sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel construction/forestry equipment onsite. Inspect, diagnose, repair, adjust and maintain equipment using manuals and DTAC; request proper parts, track machine status, and execute repairs including engine overhauls, head gaskets, rear axle replacement, hydraulic valves/pumps, rock shafts, and transmission work. Prepare accurate inspection and service reports and maintain records. Requires valid driver’s license with insurable driving record and a DOT medical card; 3-5+ years as a mechanic on diesel equipment; experience with John Deere dealer systems or similar and laptop-based diagnostics; Level III John Deere certification preferred. Training at the dealership prior to road calls. Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
- Medical DOT card
- 3-5 years or more of experience as a mechanic working on diesel equipment (construction and/or forestry)
- Experience as a field technician in heavy equipment industry preferred
- Computer experience in dealer systems such as CDK, John Deere systems or similar
- Ability to use laptop systems for diagnostics
- Certification as a Level III John Deere Certified Technician or equivalent (highly preferred)
- Must be able to train in the dealership location prior to starting road calls
