Job Summary
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customer heavy equipment in shop or field environments while maintaining productivity and customer satisfaction. Review work schedules and check supplies at shift start, then determine technical status using on-board computers, service documents, and product improvement programs. Verify findings against manufacturer specs, prepare repair plans, and order or fabricate parts as needed. Install, replace, rebuild, or repair components according to specifications, followed by testing and quality checks. Perform painting, pressure washing, and general housekeeping duties while ensuring safety and contamination control compliance. Complete required paperwork at shift end and maintain predetermined productivity levels.
Required Qualifications
- Must have earned a High School Diploma, or a GED
- Successful completion of the level three service technician development program
- 6+ years in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system mechanic repair
- Have Knowledge of: Engine and equipment lines sold by the company
- Comprehensive knowledge of the application, operation, and function of Caterpillar equipment and engines
- Use and application of all Caterpillar diagnostic tools
- Electrical and electronic system applications
- Problem solving techniques and repair options for Caterpillar machines, engines, and components
- Basic keyboarding skills
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to walk
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to talk or hear
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to taste or smell
- Must frequently lift, carry, push, pull and /or otherwise move up to 25 pounds
- Must have close vision
