Job Summary
Repair, recondition, and service Caterpillar and allied machines in the field, preparing equipment for delivery. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions of engines and components, then repair, recondition, and maintain equipment while planning and controlling repair costs. Communicate equipment conditions and recommendations to clients, associates, and management. Prepare service reports, make warranty recommendations, and provide on-the-job training. Maintain company equipment in clean, orderly condition and own required personal tools. Travel to remote locations and work overtime as needed, adhering to all safety policies and company standards.
Required Qualifications
- At least five years heavy equipment technician experience
- Caterpillar work experience
- Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, and warranty claims procedures
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Current driver's license
- Required DOT licensing, medical card, and endorsements as vehicle size dictates
- Minimum of 6 months related experience
- Completion of TRAIN test evaluation
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English
- Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDL if required by state or federal law
- Knowledge of CAT machine components and systems
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- May be required to operate a forklift with appropriate certification(s)
