Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel heavy engines and components, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Replace parts in light and heavy frame assemblies, suspension systems, drive trains, and steering mechanisms. Perform welding, brazing, and part fabrication while completing documentation for work orders, parts orders, and warranty support. Tune engines and utilize diagnostic equipment for computer controls and air conditioning. Execute all tasks adhering to established safety procedures, quality standards, and time requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a diesel technician
- Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of arc and oxygen acetylene welding
- Knowledge of test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment
- Knowledge of electronic components of vehicles
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and understand operators and repair manuals
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to keep required records
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information
- Possession of all necessary licenses and certificates to operate equipment and vehicles
- Skill in basic computer applications including email and internet usage
- Ability to communicate through email
- Ability to read, analyze, and communicate technical information
- Ability to write service reports
- Ability to ask and properly respond to questions from customers and supervisors
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Course work from accredited trade school, college or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics
