Job Summary
As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician, you will inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines in heavy equipment. Responsibilities include repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components, conducting major engine and transmission overhauls, and performing welding as needed. The role requires a solid understanding of equipment diagnostics and the ability to manage documentation associated with repairs. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, prior diesel technician experience, and strong mechanical and technical skills, including the ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working as a diesel technician
- Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems, arc and oxygen acetylene welding, test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment and electronic components of vehicles
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely to diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information such as schematics and technical manuals
- Possession of necessary licenses and certificates
- Skilled in basic computer applications including email and internet usage
- Ability to write clear and concise service reports
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and supervisors
Desired Qualifications
- Course work from accredited trade school, college or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics
