Job Summary
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and drivetrain issues on heavy construction equipment from manufacturers including Caterpillar, John Deere, Link-Belt, Manitowoc/Grove, and Gomaco. Interpret service manuals to identify repairs, order parts, and perform preventive maintenance inspections while documenting equipment condition and required repairs. Maintain accurate records of daily maintenance activities, operate tools safely per OSHA regulations, and ensure all work meets high-quality standards before returning equipment to service. Communicate effectively with supervisors and operators regarding needed repairs and completed work. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in a fast-paced field environment requiring flexibility for nights, weekends, and extended hours.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in heavy equipment maintenance
- Completion of a diesel technology or related technical program
- Proficiency in working with equipment from major manufacturers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Link-Belt, Manitowoc/Grove, and Gomaco
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, A/C units, and onboard control modules
- Valid Class B CDL with X endorsement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced field environment
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and extended hours as required by project needs
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb on and off equipment, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Welding and fabricating experience
- Computer skills for diagnostics and reporting
- Valid Class B CDL with X endorsement preferred, but not required
