Job Summary
Operate a heavy equipment vehicle according to state and federal transportation laws, transporting loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes. Deftly maneuver the truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas while following crew signals, and assist with loading or unloading goods using specialized equipment when warranted. Maintain signed invoices and shipping bills of lading, then deliver completed documentation to the shipping office. Facilitate routine service checks on trucks, including oil, water, and air levels, and report any maintenance malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor. Arrange trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns and perform other related duties as assigned. This role includes a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM with overtime pay after 40 hours and subject to on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points
- Ability to remain focused in a busy environment
- Must hold either a commercial drivers license (Class A CDL) or chauffeur's license depending on state, appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
- Must pass DOT physical, as trucks driven are over 10k lbs
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle
- Must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds at a time
- Must be able to travel frequently
- Must be clean shaven in order to deliver to EquipmentShare customers who have this requirement
- Must pass a 10 panel drug screen
