Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, tire rotations, and brake adjustments on heavy-duty waste vehicles. Use diagnostic software to interpret failure codes and repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, transmission, steering, and suspension systems. Respond to roadside emergency calls to diagnose and fix equipment on-site while reviewing Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and conducting safety checks. Complete work orders, parts orders, and detailed records to ensure all vehicles meet DOT and OSHA standards. Order and manage parts inventory as needed. This role requires a CDL Class B, minimum three years of heavy-duty truck experience, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance
- CDL Class B
- Clean driving record
- ability to pass background and drug screening
- Extensive knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and hoses
- Proficiency with diesel engine diagnostic software and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
- Experience performing scheduled services (oil changes, brake inspections, suspension repairs)
- Ability to lift heavy objects (often 50+ lbs), bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods
