Job Summary
Operate heavy wrecker recovering and towing medium and heavy-duty vehicles, driving company vehicles in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner while avoiding traffic violations. Perform very early and late pickups and deliveries, securing vehicles, verifying condition, and obtaining signatures at pickup locations to confirm load integrity. Transport cars between dealerships, body shops, branches, and auctions, keeping track of time for billing and making proper notations regarding vehicles. Comply with DOT procedures, including driver logs and medical cards, and work carefully to prevent injury or damage. Willing to work nights and weekends, handle extreme weather, and assist in light duty during shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license CDL (Class A) and safe driving record
- Willing to obtain doubles and triples endorsement
- Must meet Department of Transportation testing and physical requirements
- Must be detail oriented and accurate in work assignments
- Must provide your own hand tools
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and interpret road maps
- Ability to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation (DOT Card Required) and maintain the certificate for the duration of employment in the position
- Demonstrates positive customer service attitude - both to coworkers and customers
- Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in tight spaces
- Ability to work in extreme weather
- Sit behind driving wheel for extended periods of time
- Successfully pass drug tests in compliance with company policy and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Willing to work nights and weekends
