Job Summary
Complete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes, including preventative maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. Evaluate equipment performance to detect faults, mobilize units for maintenance, and develop work scopes and schedules. Test repaired equipment against manufacturer specifications and order necessary parts. Mentor apprentices and mechanics while adhering to NACG codes of practice and safe operating procedures. Work closely with peers in maintenance and operations at the Fort Hills site on a 14x14 schedule with 12-hour days.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience post Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators
- Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities
- Capable of working with minimal supervision

- Basic knowledge of computer applications
- Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
- A valid Alberta Journeyperson Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road)
- Current CVIP and Picker Inspection
- Oxygen/acetylene cabinets that meet OH&S requirements
- Full complement of tools for repairing Off Road Equipment
- $5 million liability insurance
- Schedule: 14 x 14, 12 hour days (paid for 12 hours). Days/Nights
- Accommodations: Camp is provided
- Transportation: Flights provided to/from Edmonton or Calgary only. Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after rotation)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Cat SIS is an asset
- Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset
