Job Summary
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair of motor coaches, conduct CVIP inspections, respond to breakdowns, and supervise apprentices. Candidates must possess a certified Heavy Equipment Technician certification, with CVIP knowledge as an asset. Key responsibilities include lifting up to 50 lbs, maintaining documentation, and utilizing diagnostic technology. The role emphasizes a safety-focused mindset, teamwork, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of computer technology trends in the service industry, i.e. diagnostic programs and service manuals
- Ability to develop new solutions and techniques to solve problems related to new and/or different equipment
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation
- Ability to obtain clearance for driving record check (abstract), physical demands analysis, drug & alcohol test, criminal record check
Additional Requirements
- Certified Heavy Equipment Technician (recognized in Canada)
- Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) is considered an asset or ability to achieve Provincial CVIP
- Journeyperson certification, other levels may be considered
- Valid class 1, 2Q or 3Q driver’s license is considered an asset
