Job Summary
Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar mining equipment at Suncor Base Mine by performing field diagnosis and running repairs. Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily to complete technical documentation including service reports and warranty notes. Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team while working with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks. Maintain safety consciousness and strong organizational skills throughout the role. This position requires a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification and a valid class 5 driver's license. You will work a 14x14 continuous day/night shift with a premium camp or location allowance provided.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
- Strong field troubleshooting skills on the Caterpillar mining product line
- Experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic
- Valid class 5 driver's license with a successful recent drivers abstract
- Dedication to safety
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing)
- Ability to wear a respirator where applicable
- Membership in the Union associated with this position
Desired Qualifications
- Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S-level courses
- Understanding of the Caterpillar product line
