Job Summary
Diagnose, examine, and investigate defective vehicle components using computer diagnostic equipment while servicing and repairing buses in the shop or on-road. Maintain, adjust, and repair all bus systems, components, and parts to ensure operational fitness, performing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance. Operate buses to diagnose failures or move vehicles when required, anticipating breakdowns, listing parts, and processing orders. Ensure documentation accuracy for all service records and communicate with operations and supervisory staff regarding equipment availability. Uphold compliance with safety standards, operations, and maintenance policies. Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic with Red Seal preferred and 2–5 years of experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic
- 2 – 5 years of related work experience
- Valid driver's license
- Must be willing to complete Yukon territorial licensing exam required to perform safety inspections (SAFTIs)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Problem solving skills
- Troubleshooting skills
- Strong time management
- Well-developed communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Computer proficiency
- Own hand tools
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Monday through Friday day shift (7:30 am to 4:00 pm)
- Possibility of evenings and weekend OT shifts as required
