Job Summary
Develop comprehensive estimates for heavy civil and highway construction projects by completing quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications. Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to assemble detailed project budgets and final bid proposals. Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope, identify risks, and apply knowledge of construction methods to prepare competitive estimates. Monitor market conditions and material pricing trends to ensure estimate accuracy while supporting the preconstruction process through collaboration with internal teams. Manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment to help position the company to secure profitable work.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- at least two years of estimating experience
- Five or more years of heavy highway or heavy civil estimating and preconstruction experience
- Strong attention to detail
- excellent organizational skills
- The ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A solid understanding of heavy civil construction techniques and estimating practices
- A competitive mindset
