Job Summary
Drive delivery of high-power Radio Frequency and particle heating sources for the Alpha stellarator by evaluating vendor proposals and integrating systems with the wider Alpha supply chain. Interface with project management and external partnerships to realize RF component delivery using internal and grant funding, acting as the expert customer across grants, partnerships, and contracts. Capture learnings from the Alpha project to inform supplier strategies for the Stellaris powerplant, targeting operation in the 2030s. This Level 3 FullTime role in Munich requires direct experience leading megawatt-level heating system delivery and interplay of vendor and internally developed systems.
Required Qualifications
- Direct experience leading the delivery and installation of a megawatt-level heating or particle accelerator system
- Record of driving success in projects dependent on an interplay of both vendor delivered and internally developed systems
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-experts
- Quality assurance and validation experience of high power heating systems
- Experience with gyrotrons and associated components including transmission systems, launcher antennas, and RF loads
