Job Summary
Operates, maintains, and repairs industrial boiler plants and associated heating, hot and cold water, and plumbing systems for public housing communities and recreational centers. Performs routine and emergency boiler-plant trouble shooting, maintains non-boiler heating systems (heat pumps, furnaces, gas tanks), monitors boiler plant parameters, inspects underground piping, and participates in special projects (water-conservation and equipment installs). Requires knowledge of heating systems, boiler maintenance, piping, pumps, controls, safety devices, and ability to read blueprints and technical manuals; Strong emphasis on on-call repairs, safety, and compliance with HUD regulations. Must possess a valid driver’s license and relevant certifications as applicable; physical ability to perform demanding maintenance tasks; ability to work in a team environment and communicate complex information effectively.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three to five years of operation and maintenance in heat generation systems and related equipment
- Vocational or technical school training in heating system, HVAC, or boiler maintenance (preferred)
- Valid and current driver’s license
- Gas Certification and Boilermaker title may be required for assignments
- Personal heating and plumbing tools are required
