Job Summary
The Heat Treat Technician is responsible for executing thermal operations, specifically post weld heat treatment using electrical resistance methods. Key responsibilities include performing setup and operation of heating systems, monitoring and documenting heat cycles, troubleshooting equipment, coordinating with welders and inspectors, and maintaining records for QA/QC reporting. Candidates should have 2–5 years of experience in electrical resistance heat treating, knowledge of ceramic heating pads, and familiarity with applicable codes. A strong work ethic and safety-first mindset are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening background check.
- Must be able to obtain TWIC, DISA, and/or other site access credentials.
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience performing electrical resistance heat treating (ERHT) in industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of ceramic heating pads, controller programming, thermocouple application, and insulation layout.
- Familiarity with weld joint preparation and applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.).
- Ability to read P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment specifications related to heat treatment scopes.
- Willingness and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as required.
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in induction heating systems, including coil setup, power pack operation, and pipe surface prep.
- Familiarity with combustion heat treating, including burner setup and temperature monitoring.
- Electrical or instrumentation background is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting NDT, welding, or mechanical integrity scopes.
- Familiarity with welding, inspection, or other industrial trades.
- Current TWIC, OSHA 10/30, or other industry-standard safety certifications.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools/equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel and work in various environments typically found in Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Power, Municipality, Aerospace, and other type settings.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
