Job Summary
Operate Austemper heat treating equipment including furnaces, oil quench, and tempering systems by managing machine startup, burner relights, and dewpoint adjustments. Independently identify next-job priorities when work boards are depleted and review routings, QFs, and QJIs in PLEX to ensure process compliance. Add salt and oil as needed, enter maintenance work orders, and contain parts during power loss while maintaining all standard documentation and logs. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or lead.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must regularly stand, walk, reach with hands and arms
- Must frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs
- Must be able to work in high-temperature environments, particularly during summer months
- Must have good vision, hearing, and the ability to communicate clearly
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability

- Flexibility and adaptability in high-heat, fast-paced environments
- Ability to interpret and follow heat treat routings, QF forms, and QJI work instructions
- Basic computer skills for data entry and label creation
- Capable of reading gauges, timers, and control panel indicators
- The ability to enter work orders and log production events using PLEX
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Maintains safety awareness and professionalism
- Flexible and responsive to production priorities
- Consistently reliable with attendance and shift performance
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in heat treat operations or thermal processing
- Familiarity with PLEX or ERP systems
