Job Summary
Set up, operate, and tend to heating equipment to heat-treat steel coil/wire. Review orders and locate coils according to schedule. Use overhead crane and forklift to load/unload coils from furnace or carriers. Understand emergency gas and temperature procedures; adjust gas and temperature according to chart. Operate RX generator; make and polish mount. Perform tensile pull, hardness, and upset tests, cut samples and tag. Fill out production sheets and shift/maintenance reports daily. Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with basic equipment maintenance. Check atmospheric gas temperatures (CO, CO2, O2) and monitor computerized systems as needed. Wear required PPE and inspect overhead crane and forklift daily. Follow all safety rules and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Basic computer skills
- Previous experience operating forklift and overhead crane in an industrial setting
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
