Job Summary
Heat Treat and Lab Metallurgist responsible for ensuring product quality through metallurgical analysis and expertise. Provides metallurgical guidance to quality and engineering teams; investigates internal failures and manages customer claims via root-cause analysis; verifies welding processes; defines and optimizes heat treatment conditions for various products; reviews final product compliance to specifications; participates in internal/external audits; trains operators on metallurgical processes and SOPs; collaborates with engineers to implement process improvements to enhance quality performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in steelmaking or a similar manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles related to steelmaking
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports
- Familiarity with welding processes and their metallurgical implications
- In-depth knowledge of heat treatment processes for stainless and carbon steels
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to collaborate across departments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and coach others
