Job Summary
Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects focused on heat trace systems. Responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, and other related costs to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The role supports preconstruction through completion by conducting cost analysis, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and generating detailed estimates and bid packages. Responsibilities include managing bid pricing from vendors, reviewing documentation, conducting ongoing cost research, performing take-offs with onscreen software, coordinating with vendors and trade partners, handling change orders, and maintaining project logs to keep the project within budget. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field and at least three years of experience in heat trace estimating, along with strong math/analytical skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel. In-office, full-time position based at the Richmond, Virginia headquarters with relocation assistance considered for highly qualified candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field
- At least three years of experience in construction estimating in Heat Trace
- Ability to read, understand, and navigate architectural plans and specifications
- Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively
- Considerable knowledge of construction processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Excellent math and analytical skills
- Detail-orientated and decisive
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Impeccable problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and other trade partners
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed
- Able to wear required personal protective equipment
- Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials
- Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video
- Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs
