Job Summary
The Hearing Care Counsellor-Ethno will provide individual counselling, support, and case management for eligible clients aged 55 and up who are hard of hearing or deaf and part of targeted ethno-specific groups. Responsibilities include evaluating clients' hearing loss, instructing clients on the use and maintenance of hearing aids, and collaborating with agencies to support client independence. Ideal candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have 3-5 years of counselling experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the Social Services field (e.g. social work, gerontology)
- 3-5 years of counselling experience with eligible clients
Desired Qualifications
- Counselling experience with the elderly
- Proven knowledge of hearing loss services
- Experience in evaluating hearing loss using audio scope and audiometer testing devices
- Bilingual in a language other than English
Additional Requirements
- Legally eligible for employment in Canada
- Proof of legal ability to work in Canada required if contingent offer is made
- COVID-19 vaccination or medical exemption required
