Job Summary
The Healthy Movement Healthy Plate Peer Leader role focuses on assisting with program preparation and supporting weekly sessions that promote healthy eating and active living. Responsibilities include preparing program materials, measuring and organizing ingredient hampers, supporting program setup, engaging participants during activities, leading icebreaker activities, and providing assistance during exercise sessions. Applicants must have lived experience with Type 2 Diabetes, prior participation in a Diabetes Education Program, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting groceries and standing for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- Lived experience with Type 2 Diabetes
- Prior participation in a Diabetes Education Program (DEP)
- Ability to lift and carry groceries
- Ability to stand for 1–2 hours
- Comfortable working in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- Food Safety certification
- Basic math skills (measuring and portioning)
Additional Requirements
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory
- Completion of reference checks and criminal background checks (including Vulnerable Sector Screening) is required
