Job Summary
Conduct installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic communication systems, including VOIP, SIP, and networking equipment, to ensure minimum downtime and maximum performance. Perform final hookup and programming of electronics for new jobs, test and document system readings, and troubleshoot electronic components while reading wiring diagrams and schematics. Operate test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and impedance meters to verify system integrity. Respond promptly to customer service issues, update customer files, and train staff on proper equipment usage. Manage on-call duties on a regular scheduled basis and maintain accurate tracking of time sheets, service tickets, and inventory. Assist with preventive maintenance and ensure full compliance with safety programs. Some out-of-town travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of communications systems
- Minimum: High school graduate
- Must be able to read and write at Basic English proficiency
- Must be able to compute basic math functions without difficulty
- Can read CAD generated prints and building blueprints and riser diagrams
- Has solid grasp of basic electronics/electrical theory
- Is proficient with PC
- Valid and current driver's license
- Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers
- Some light lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. is required
- Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required
Desired Qualifications
- A two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years related field experience
- Experience with VoIP, telephony, data networks, wireless data, fire alarm, CCTV, sound systems, or nurse call applications
- Cisco and Microsoft certifications
- Associates Degree in Electronics, IT or Computer Programming
- NSCA CEST Certification
- NICET certification
- RCDD and factory training
- Nurse Call Experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized
- Superior customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers including such programs as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due date
- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
- Must be able to read and effectively interpret general business documentation
