Job Summary
Operate and monitor AI-based weapon detection and access control systems at hospital entry points while engaging with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional, courteous manner. Respond to system alerts, conduct secondary screenings when necessary, and escalate incidents according to Nova Scotia Health Authority security protocols. Maintain accurate records of incidents, breaches, and equipment performance while collaborating with healthcare staff, security teams, and law enforcement partners. Uphold infection control policies, ensure smooth traffic flow, and contribute to a culture of safety and inclusivity. This full-time role requires a valid security license, First Aid/CPR certification, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Candidates must commit to unpaid Use of Force and Management of Aggressive Behavior training prior to onboarding.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Security License (as per Nova Scotia regulations)
- High School Diploma/GED
- First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
- Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Ability to operate advanced security technology, including AI-based detection systems
- Physically able to perform duties, including standing for extended periods and responding quickly to incidents
- Monday-Friday / 4 Day Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-0700
- Full-Time Security Guard
- Dartmouth General Hospital or Halifax Infirmary
