Job Summary
Provides basic nursing care for geriatric residents by assessing on admission and ongoing, communicating changes to the interdisciplinary team, documenting assessments, participating in care planning, updating care plans as interventions require, and implementing nursing interventions including medication administration and IV fluids if certified. Maintains SBARR communication with physicians and families, monitors residents’ conditions, identifies problem areas via QAPI processes, assists with ADLs, answers call lights, and may be assigned other duties. Requires ongoing continuing education to stay current with best nursing practices and Bethesda policies, with benefits including health insurance, retirement plan options, daily pay, and holiday pay.
Required Qualifications
- Education from an accredited school of nursing resulting in LPN
- Current LPN license in the state of employment
- CPR and AED certification or willingness to obtain within six months
- IV certification or willingness to obtain within six months
- Long-term care experience preferred
- Ability to assess basic nursing care needs of geriatric residents
- Excellent communication skills with residents, families, and staff
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift heavy objects (200+ lbs) with proper technique and assistance
- Ability to transfer and move patients with assistance when necessary
- Ability to push/pull equipment weighing over 40 lbs with assistance
- Manual dexterity and coordination for patient care
- Visual acuity for monitoring residents and performing tasks
- Ability to document electronically and in writing
- Commitment to staying current with nursing practices and facility policies
- Ability to perform nursing duties with minimal supervision
