Job Summary
Healthcare Practical Nurse (LPN) providing basic nursing care, assessment, care planning, and interdisciplinary communication for geriatric residents; administers medications and IV therapies where certified, documents interventions, participates in SBARR communications, and supports QAPI-driven quality improvement; requires LPN license, CPR/AED and IV certification or willingness to obtain within six months, and strong communication, time management, and physical endurance to stand, lift, and assist heavy patients; long-term care experience preferred and ongoing nursing education expected.
Required Qualifications
- Education from an accredited school of nursing resulting in becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Current LPN license in the state you will be working
- CPR and AED certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- IV certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- Long-term care experience preferred
- Must be able to assess the basic nursing care needs of the geriatric resident
- Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with residents, visitors and staff
- Time management and organizational skills required
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
- Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
- Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary
- Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment
- Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color
- Ability to physically perform necessary documentation electronically and in writing
