Job Summary
Healthcare Credential Exam Specialist to support AAPC’s certification exam development initiatives through creating, reviewing, maintaining, and validating credentialing assessments and related exam products. Responsibilities include exam item development, blueprint maintenance, beta testing, psychometric review, and leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency and content quality while adhering to governance and healthcare standards. Lead and mentor Exam Development Committees, build competency maps and blueprints, coordinate beta testing, ensure content accuracy with learning objectives, collaborate with SMEs and instructional designers, and stay current with coding guidelines and regulatory updates. This role serves as an internal expert on certification standards and educational initiatives, supporting exam platform administration and strategic initiatives. You bring active coding certification (AAPC/AHIMA) or equivalent credentials, strong medical coding knowledge, excellent communication, collaboration skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; preferred experience in healthcare education, credentialing, or psychometrics.
Required Qualifications
- Active coding certification from a recognized organization (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA)
- Exam development credentials from organizations such as ICE‐CCP® (I.C.E.) or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of medical coding, billing, auditing, compliance, or revenue cycle operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Experience collaborating across technical and nontechnical teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
