Job Summary
Healthcare Assistant in Outpatients at Three Shires Hospital (Northampton). Full-time role at 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern; department open 8:00–20:30 and alternate Saturdays 8:00–16:00. Responsibilities include assisting patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility; supporting eating and nutritional intake; providing comfort and emotional support; performing and recording routine observations (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after training; assisting with wound care, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids; preparing and maintaining clinical areas and equipment; and collaborating with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care. Applicants should have experience in care/health support and possess good communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns. Basic literacy/numeracy/IT skills are required; NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable. Required Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable
- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
