Job Summary
Lead the health and wellness initiatives across the SpartanNash YMCA and Visser Family YMCA by developing and evaluating fitness and wellness programs, supervising full-time and part-time wellness staff, and driving member engagement and retention. Drive program development, oversee group fitness and personal training, manage member onboarding and retention, cultivate partnerships to expand community health offerings, ensure safety and quality in line with YMCA standards, and manage budget, payroll, and facility operations. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (in Exercise Science or related field preferred), 3 years of related experience with supervisory responsibilities, and relevant certifications (CPR, First Aid, Personal Training) within designated timeframes. Also involves collaboration with branch leadership, training and developing staff, and maintaining an inclusive environment to promote long-term member participation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Exercise Science or a business field preferred
- 3 years’ related experience in Exercise Science or related Health and Wellness field, personal training, and/or program development
- Supervisory experience required
- Personal training certification preferred
- CPR within the first 60 days
- First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
- Personal Training Certification within first 60 days
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles
- Desire to work hands on with members
