Health Team Intern (Fall 2026- UNPAID)

Job Summary
Provide transportation for clients and their families to medical, dental, and vision appointments, and implement transit orientation to familiarize them with available public transportation options. Assist the Health Team with administrative tasks such as phone calls, filing, collecting signed paperwork, and making medical appointments. Offer as-needed support for prescription and medical bill assistance while recording hours and submitting completed timesheets via the IRC's online Volunteer Dashboard. This unpaid role reports to the Charlottesville Family Wellbeing Supervisor and requires ownership of a vehicle with valid insurance. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with the Charlottesville public transportation system.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Interest in working with the refugee community
- Sensitivity to the differences of clients
- Respect for clients' beliefs and values which may differ from the candidate's
- Ownership of a car
- Valid driver's license
- Car insurance
- Willingness to transport clients in a personal vehicle
- Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to client needs
- Familiarity with the Charlottesville public transportation system or a willingness to familiarize oneself with the Charlottesville public transportation system
