Job Summary
Health Science Teacher – CNA Instructor responsible for high-quality CNA instruction to high school students, preparing them for state certification while promoting professionalism and patient-care skills. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating CNA curriculum and lesson plans aligned with district/state standards; planning accommodations for diverse learners; coordinating instructional activities with TEA guidelines; conducting assessments to inform instruction; collaborating with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs; planning goals with instructional aides/volunteers; sponsoring student organizations and extracurricular activities; supervising program components as CNA Program Director, ensuring compliance with Texas Health and Human Services and Texas Board of Nursing; managing partnerships with clinical sites, documenting program outcomes and inspections; coordinating state audits and program reviews; and assisting with recruitment and promotion of the Health Science program. The role requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, plus experience in curriculum development, assessment, and program administration. Wage/Hour status is Exempt; Master’s stipend noted in district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Current Texas RN license in good standing or eligibility to practice in Texas through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Eligibility to serve as a CNA Instructor under Texas Health and Human Services regulations
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or ability to obtain certification
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, with preferably one year of experience caring for elderly or chronically ill individuals
