Job Summary
Prepare checklists, record inspection findings, and track corrective actions while assisting with hazard assessments and incident investigations. Maintain OHS records, databases, and electronic filing systems, and monitor compliance with Alberta legislation and organizational policies. Support emergency preparedness by updating plans, coordinate committee meetings, and develop safety materials. Update policies, compile statistics, and conduct research on best practices. Collaborate with staff to promote a positive safety culture and assist with training initiatives. This student or volunteer role reports directly to the Compliance Officer, follows a daytime routine with occasional flexible hours for audits, and requires a Police Information Check prior to commencement.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a career or experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Management, Human Resources, or any other related field
- Proficient at using Google tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and comfortable learning new computer tracking systems
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines at once
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to keep private information confidential
- Respectful of different cultures, heritages, and spiritual beliefs
- A Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and an Intervention Record Check must be completed prior to commencement (any records must be disclosed before hire)
- Access to a reliable vehicle is an asset, along with $2M third-party liability insurance
