Job Summary
Conduct safety and environmental audits across construction, industrial, and commercial workplaces to ensure compliance with company policies, client procedures, and government legislation. Inspect sites to identify hazards and review incident reports to drive corrective actions and follow-up. Investigate unresolved issues with supervisors and contractors, while developing safe work practices, job procedures, and health and safety programs. Deliver training programs to supervisory staff and employees on relevant safety protocols. This role requires 3-5 years of HSE experience on construction sites and familiarity with ESA Code, TSSA Standards, and CSA standards. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies. Black & McDonald offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $95,000 per year, along with group insurance, a pension plan, and discretionary bonuses.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years' of experience within the HSE related field, specifically on construction sites
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies or equivalent
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal HSE regulations, programs and standards
- Familiar with industry guidelines, ESA Code, TSSA Standards & appropriate CSA standards
- Ability to recognize hazards as well as advise on appropriate safe work methods
- Ability to understand technical drawings/systems
- Criminal Background Check
- Professional Reference Check
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Desired Qualifications
- Training in Fall Protection/Working at Heights, First-Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Electrical Awareness, Asbestos Awareness are assets
- NCSO, CUSP, CRSP designations are assets
