Job Summary
Act as the group's day-to-day point of contact for health and safety across three production sites and eleven memorial branches. Build a network of local representatives to implement changes, coordinate external risk assessments, and maintain a live risk register. Conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance, manage incident reporting including RIDDOR, and lead root-cause investigations. Deliver induction and refresher training while ensuring practices align with UK legislation. Report performance and outstanding actions to the Operations Director. This newly created role supports a practical safety culture across a geographically spread business with backing from senior leadership and external specialists.
Required Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification)
- Some practical experience in a health and safety role, ideally 1–3 years, gained in a multi-site, production, manufacturing or retail environment
- Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, RIDDOR, COSHH and manual handling regulations
- Confident, clear communicator, comfortable influencing and supporting non-specialist representatives and managers across the business
- Comfortable working independently in a standalone role, managing a varied workload without a specialist team around them
- Well organised, practical, and able to prioritise across multiple sites and competing demands
- Full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites and branches
Desired Qualifications
- Working towards, or holding, a NEBOSH Diploma
- Experience working with an external health and safety consultancy or auditing body
- Experience in a business with both production/workshop sites and customer-facing branches
