Job Summary
Oversee all health & safety matters of the project, including developing and revising the Safety Management System (SMS) policies, plans, and procedures. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, maintain CNESST designation, and lead incident investigations while identifying non-conformities. Conduct regular site inspections, organize training programs for construction personnel, and review subcontractor qualifications. Advise the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, partner with project management on timely H&S communication, and liaise with governing agencies. Attend pre-construction and progress meetings as required. Fluency in English and French is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Construction Health and Safety Officer certificate
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the heavy civil construction industry
- At least 4 years as a manager
- In-depth knowledge of local, provincial, and national government Health & Safety acts, policies, regulations, codes and practices as they apply to the construction industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in both English and French
- Valid driver's license
