Job Summary
Oversee all health & safety matters of the project, including developing and revising the Safety Management System (SMS) policies, plans, and procedures. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal Health, Safety & Environmental requirements while maintaining CNESST designation and regulatory standing. Conduct regular site inspections, lead incident investigations, and identify non-conformities to drive resolution. Prepare and deliver training programs to confirm all construction personnel hold adequate training and ASP recognition. Advise the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, review subcontractor qualifications, and liaise with governing agencies. Partner with the project management team to ensure timely H&S communication across pre-construction and progress meetings. Fluency in both English and French is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Construction Health and Safety Officer certificate
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the heavy civil construction industry
- At least 4 years as a manager
- In-depth knowledge of local, provincial, and national government Health & Safety acts, policies, regulations, codes and practices as they apply to the construction industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in both English and French
- Valid driver's license
