Health & Safety Manager

Job Summary

Develop and implement tools, programs, and initiatives that increase safety awareness, engagement, and accountability across the site. Lead the Health & Safety team through coaching, performance management, and professional development while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA requirements. Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and drive continuous improvement to achieve site objectives. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions; coordinate site assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and internal audits. Partner with site leadership to establish safety goals, manage change processes, and support the Responsible Care® 14001 / ISO management systems. Ensure emergency response and business continuity plans are tested and maintained.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, utility, pharmaceutical, energy, or heavy industrial environment
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or people-management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational safety management systems

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, energy, or other highly regulated industrial environments
  • Experience working in a Process Safety Management site
  • Prior experience working in a MARSEC or similarly highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated success leading safety culture transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action management
  • Experience supporting Responsible Care® 14001, RC14001, ISO management systems, or similar compliance frameworks
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills
  • Strong technical writing skills, including policies, procedures, standards, and training materials
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant professional certification
