Job Summary
Provide sound, industry-leading advice to project stakeholders and lead by example across all sites. Conduct audits and inspections of workplaces at frequencies determined by the BU HSE Manager, attending sites following accidents or incidents to assist with investigations, including leading them in the absence of the Project Director or HSE Manager. Liaise with enforcement authorities when they attend site investigations. Deliver appropriate health and safety training to site staff, stay informed on legislative changes and best practices, and assist tender and prequalification teams by advising on safety concerns and providing practical solutions. Attend start-up meetings and supply chain meetings when requested. Identify and alert the HSE Manager to any periods of inadequate safety cover.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the construction industry
- Minimum 3 years as a health and safety professional
- Technical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
- NVQ Level 4 or EQF Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Training in incident investigation
- Local PD/CDL and PSDP/PSCS training
- Awareness of lifting operations including BS7121 and IS361
- Temporary works awareness including understanding of the TWC role
- Training in temporary works supervision
- Additional professional development within occupational health, environment or behavioral safety
