Job Summary
Champion a positive, open safety culture by being a visible, hands-on Health & Safety presence on site with frontline teams, subcontractors, and clients. Lead risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections to formulate corrective actions, while supporting incident investigations focused on root cause and meaningful follow-through. Deliver engaging toolbox talks and inductions to build safer habits, drive consistent use of safety systems, and analyze H&S data for leadership reporting. Maintain accurate records aligned with legal requirements and stay current on industry developments to improve site safety.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or equivalent
- 5+ years' experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role preferably within a contracting and construction environments
- Class 1 NZ full driver's licence
- Hands-on experience with incident investigation, risk management, and safety audits
- Strong, effective communicator, confident and able to influence and attract engagement
- Solid knowledge of applicable acts, standards and regulations relating to Health & Safety compliance in civil construction activities
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust and respect with a diverse workforce at all levels
- Advanced skills such as conflict resolution, negotiation & change management
- Ability to gather and analyse data, research, compile information and prepare reports
- Awareness of Safety II and HOP principles
