Job Summary
Monitor, research, and analyze federal legislation, regulations, and policy initiatives affecting the PA profession. Draft comments, policy recommendations, and advocacy materials consistent with AAPA's positions. Attend congressional hearings, federal agency briefings, and coalition meetings to inform advocacy efforts. Represent AAPA in government agency meetings and external stakeholder engagements. Research payer reimbursement policies and emerging issues including Medicare, Medicaid, and value-based care. Track federal and state laws related to PA reimbursement and coverage. Develop and administer surveys of Medicaid, workers' compensation, and commercial payers to maintain policy databases. Build relationships with PAs, healthcare systems, and professional associations to gather information and support initiatives. Develop policy communications, issue briefs, and educational resources for public-facing audiences. Present AAPA priorities to internal and external stakeholders at conferences and webinars. Partner with Federal Advocacy and Reimbursement teams to balance priorities and manage concurrent projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Policy, Public Policy, Political Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in health policy, government affairs, healthcare reimbursement, healthcare advocacy, or a related field
- Experience researching and interpreting federal legislation, regulations, and healthcare reimbursement policies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex policy issues clearly to a variety of audiences
- Strong analytical, research, organizational, and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment
- Ability to attend occasional in-office meetings and events in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, including occasional evening functions
Desired Qualifications
