Job Summary
Health Information Technician I responsible for preparing, classifying, and abstracting medical reports in the medical records unit, reviewing records for completeness and accuracy, referring incomplete or inaccurate reports for correction, preparing statistical and other reports, gathering information for admissions and discharges, and ensuring data is properly coded; not a remote position with required reporting to the facility, and travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Eligibility for accreditation with the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); or two years of experience working with patient records in a medical setting such as a hospital, state institution, medical clinic or a physician’s office.
