Job Summary
Process release of information requests for patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Fulfill requests for medical records using software, create digital images of paperwork, and assemble records in standard order. Answer inbound and outbound calls, check voicemail, and assist with patient walk-ins, mail, and fax handling. Document information in multiple platforms while maintaining confidentiality of privileged information. Manage patient health records and respond to requests from both within the facility and external sources.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision responding to changing priorities and role needs
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- Must meet productivity expectations as outlined at specific site
- Ability to work in a production based environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
- Familiar with different EHR and Billing Systems
- Experience working with subpoenas
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Previous production/metric-based work experience
- In-person customer service experience
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
